RESPONSIBLE ORGANISATION

### Maastricht University

School of Business and Economics Tongersestraat 53 6211 LM Maastricht The Netherlands

This website belongs to Maastricht University, which is responsible for the personal data processed through it.

Website and meeting contact: [j.kaminski@maastrichtuniversity.nl](mailto:j.kaminski@maastrichtuniversity.nl)

This notice applies to causalscience.org. Read it alongside the [UM General Privacy Statement](https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/um-general-privacy-statement) , which explains the University’s wider data-protection practices and legal grounds for processing.

### Website visits

The website is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare. When you visit, technical information such as your IP address, requested page, request time and browser information may be processed to deliver the pages, maintain availability and protect the service against abuse.

These technical operations support the provision and security of the website. Further information about Cloudflare’s processing and international transfers is available in its [privacy policy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/) .

### Contact, registration & newsletters

If you email us, we receive your email address, the contents of your message and any information you choose to include. We use this information to respond and handle your meeting-related request. Messages sent to an @causalscience.org address use our Strato email service; University addresses use the University’s email service.

Registration links open a Google Forms page. Newsletter links open Buttondown. Information submitted there is used for the registration or subscription you request; the details requested and any consent choices are shown by those services. Consult [Google’s privacy policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) and [Buttondown’s privacy policy](https://buttondown.com/legal/privacy) before submitting information.

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in its emails, or contact us about registration or other requests.

### Cookies & local storage

The website’s own application code does not set advertising cookies or include visitor-tracking analytics scripts. Fonts and website images are served from this website. Cloudflare may use technical cookies where required for its security services; external services have their own cookie practices when you visit them.

The communication studio saves editable drafts in your browser’s local storage on your device. Its application code does not upload those drafts or selected images to our servers. You can remove saved drafts by clearing this website’s browser storage. Downloaded files remain on your device until you delete them.

### Programme & speaker information

The programme and meeting archive publish professional information, including author and speaker names, affiliations, presentation titles, portraits and profile links. This information identifies contributors and documents the meeting. Contact us to request a correction or discuss the use of your information.

### Retention, recipients & international processing

Personal information is retained for the period needed for its purpose and any applicable legal obligations. Programme and archive information may be kept as a historical record of the meeting. Newsletter subscription data is used while the subscription remains active. For the retention period applicable to a particular registration, message or hosting record, contact us or the University’s privacy team.

Information may be handled by the organisers and service providers needed for the relevant activity: Cloudflare for hosting, Google for registration, Buttondown for newsletters, and the relevant email provider for correspondence. Some providers operate internationally and may process data outside the European Economic Area. Their notices describe the applicable transfer arrangements; the University’s privacy team can provide further information about safeguards for University processing.

Links to speaker websites, social networks, videos and other external websites lead to services with their own privacy notices.

### Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to processing. You may also withdraw consent where that is the basis for processing.

For a privacy request, email [privacy@maastrichtuniversity.nl](mailto:privacy@maastrichtuniversity.nl) . You can contact the University’s Data Protection Officer at [fg@maastrichtuniversity.nl](mailto:fg@maastrichtuniversity.nl) . For website-specific questions, use [j.kaminski@maastrichtuniversity.nl](mailto:j.kaminski@maastrichtuniversity.nl) .

You may lodge a complaint with the [Dutch Data Protection Authority](https://www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl/en) or another competent supervisory authority. The [UM General Privacy Statement](https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/um-general-privacy-statement) explains how to exercise your rights.

We will update this page when the website’s data practices change. The revision date appears at the top.
